Ronald McDonald House Family Room

Returned to Kapiolani Medical Center — Summer of 2017

How RMHC-HI helped families with seriously ill children

We offered a safe and supportive home for families who bring a child to Oahu for medical treatments. At Kapiolani Hospital, we offered a place of respite and support for families who were spending long hours at their child’s bedside.

For 14 years RMHC–Hawaii also operated an in–hospital respite center — the Ronald McDonald House Family Room, at Kapiolani Medical Center For Women and Children (KMCWC) — to provide services and assist immediate family members of inpatient children in the hospital’s pediatric wards, with the highest priority given to families of children in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.

The RMH Family Room received thousands of visitors each year. In September 2017, after the hospital's planned expansion, the RMH Family Room space was returned to KMCWC.
