Families at Ronald McDonald Houses appreciate coming home to a warm meal, especially after a long day at the hospital either bedside or during medical treatments. You can host a meal for them at our Judd Hillside and/or Oahu Houses by cooking onsite, contributing pot luck style, or catering. Drop off meals also are welcome. If cooking at our Houses, bring your ingredients, your ohana and your passion for cooking!

Hospitality carts need volunteers

Monday–Friday, from noon to 3:00 PM

This is your chance to volunteer in the hospital as a Ronald McDonald House hospitality cart representative. Greet, serve refreshments, and help patients and their families pick out an activity from your cart. You will be bringing comfort to parents and families who are waiting to visit a baby in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).

Day–to–day operations of RMHC Hawaii are essential to providing a home–away–from–home and services for families staying with us while getting critical treatment for a child at a hospital on Oahu. Daily office projects include database entry, filing, and scanning. We couldn’t do it without the help of volunteers!

We rely on your extra hands to keep our House organized and maintained so we can provide a safe and sanitary environment for our ohana and guests. Our House Manager could use assistance with different tasks like restocking, organizing, or even decorating our Houses for the holidays. Your helping hands will help bring joy to our families.

Volunteers at the Golf Classic

Ronald McDonald House Charities Hawaii hosts special events throughout the year, including our Red Shoe 5K in the winter, Golf Classic during the summer, and our Gala in the fall. These and other events, such as silent auctions, provide funds to maintain our home–away–from–home for our families and House programs. You can assist with special event planning, follow–up calls, or onsite projects at our events. Whether your favorite activity is arts and crafts, computer work, design, or mingling, you can use your skills while meeting other people in the community and supporting a good cause.

Administrative support is crucial for our volunteer program. Activities include computer entry, filing, scanning, creating flyers and Canva designs, and helping communicate with our volunteers. We need you!

Our House Services Volunteer gets to meet and greet House visitors and community members while accepting donations and assisting with House activities and administrative tasks. Being the face of the House requires an outgoing personality and cordial disposition. If this is you, volunteer at the House that Love Built.

Volunteer shuttle driver

Our van drivers shuttle families from Ronald McDonald Houses safely to nearby hospitals. They also often assist with donation pick–ups and drop offs, especially during events. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity that directly benefits our families.

Host a special activity for our keiki and their families. Crafts, movie nights, and game nights are popular. Yoga lessons, salon services, massage, family photo sessions and other services by certified professionals are also welcome. Being engaged in activities can help alleviate some of the stressors of being ill or having a sick child. Activities can bring families closer together and they offer a much–needed sense of normalcy.

Volunteers mailing newsletters

Quarterly, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM

Our newsletter is essential to raising funds that support House programs. Helping prepare our newsletter for mailing by inserting flyers or return envelopes is a tremendous help for RMHC Hawaii. This can be done at your workplace, home, or at our House. If you have a knack for organizing a group, this is a fun way to support a good cause and can usually be done within days, sometimes over the weekend.

Assisting with digital media

Are you energetic? Do you have a passion for social media and other online platforms? Are you a good writer? As a digital media intern or volunteer, you will help communicate our brand image and promote our events. You will gain experience gathering content, creating, and delivering it to audiences on multiple digital platforms on behalf of the organization. Enhance your marketing skills and portfolio while helping a good cause.
